Chairman's Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Conference Organizing Committee, it is a pleasure and a privilege to welcome you to the 14th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation – EuCAP 2020!

We meet here in Copenhagen at the strait of Øresund connecting Denmark and Sweden. Many people and several companies and institutions in this region, as well as colleagues abroad, have worked with great devotion and enthusiasm to prepare this conference.  We are truly happy and honoured that so many have responded to these efforts by coming here to participate to EuCAP 2020.

EuCAP is Europe’s largest and most significant antennas and propagation conference attracting academic and industrial participants at all career stages from all over the world. It is a premier forum for exchange of new technical-scientific achievements, for demonstrating state-of-the-art technology, and for establishing and strengthening professional cooperations and networks. In addition, it is a steadily and strongly developing conference.

EuCAP 2020 will have more than 1200 papers, more than 50 exhibitors, more than 25 sponsors, and more than 1500 participants.  This is a clear manifestation of a strong antennas and propagation community – in this region, in Europe, and in the world.

Year 2020 marks the beginning of a new promising decade for wireless technology with great challenges and possibilities for both application-driven and curiosity-driven research and development. 5G telecommunication is rolling out to impact people and society substantially – together with other emerging technologies - and new understanding of wave-matter interaction at nanoscale will develop to form the basis for future wireless technologies.

Year 2020 also marks the 200 years anniversary for Danish physicist Hans Christian Ørsted’s discovery in 1820 that electricity and magnetism are not separate but connected phenomena - and thus the discovery of the electromagnetism that is the scientific foundation of all antenna and propagation technology.

EuCAP 2020 will thus be an excellent occasion for our community to reminisce our proud history as well as to forecast the exciting future of antennas and propagation.

In addition to its technical-scientific strength, EuCAP 2020 will be your opportunity to visit Greater Copenhagen – the metropolitan area spanning Eastern Denmark and Southern Sweden. This is home to vibrant academic and industrial activities in antennas and propagation – with a clean and sustainable environment, and an informal and peaceful Scandinavian atmosphere.

I wish you a great EuCAP 2020!
