Royal Copenhagen Plaque
This plaque was produced by Royal Copenhagen to commemorate the 200 years birthday of Hans Christian Ørsted in 1977 and it illustrates Ørsted’s discovery of electromagnetism in 1820 for which we celebrate the bicentennial in 2020. The plaque portraits Ørsted and shows a simplified version of his experiment demonstrating that an electric current makes a compass needle deflect - and thus that there is a relationship between electricity and magnetism, that there is electromagnetism.
At EuCAP 2020, a copy of this plaque will be presented to Keynote Speakers, to Invited Speakers, and to Best Papers Awardees.
