August 10, 2020: Farewell to EuCAP 2020 online

June 30, 2020: EuCAP 2020 is closing: https://www.eucap2020.org/online-conference-information/farewell-to-eucap-2020-online

July 9, 2020: EuCAP 2020 has been posted to the IEEE Xplore digital library

On June 22, 2020, the manuscripts entitled for publication in the IEEE Xplore digital library have been submitted to IEEE. Since July 8, 2020 they are available on IEEEXplore: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/conhome/9127589/proceeding

June 18, 2020: EuCAP 2020 USBs have been shipped

The EuCAP 2020 USBs have now been mailed to those participants who ordered the USB’s for the conference. A few participants, who have stated an insufficient postal address, will receive an email from the conference secretariat. We hope that you will enjoy the USB.

May 18, 2020: EuCAP 2020 online system for paper presentations is now open

We are happy to inform you that the EuCAP 2020 on-line system for oral and poster presentations is finally ready.

If you are an author, and if you have opted for your paper to be considered for the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, it is required that a presentation be uploaded to this system. In any case, we encourage you to upload a presentation of the same format and quality as you would have presented at the conference; this will strengthen the visibility of your work and it will be of benefit to all conference participants. If you are not an author, we hope that you will still make good use of the system to access the wealth of information that will be available therein.

The on-line system consists of two parts; one is for up-loading the presentations and the other is for viewing the presentations. All authors will receive a following email from the Technical Programme Chairs with access information for the up-load system and guidelines for the up-load process; this will also detail the possible formats of the oral and poster presentations. All registered conference participants will have access to the system for viewing the presentations through the personal page of www.eucap2020.org; once you have logged-in with the information provided in the Registration Confirmation email, you will see the link “EuCAP 2020 ONLINE”.

The time plan is as follows:

  • 18 May 2020: The system opens for authors’ up-load of presentations.
  • 29 May 2020: The system closes for authors’ up-load of presentations.
  • 01 June 2020: The system opens for all registered conference participants to view presentations.
  • 30 June 2020: The system closes.

EuCAP 2020 was among the very first conferences affected by the Coronavirus situation, and the establishment of the various on-line solutions for the best paper awards presentations, for the short courses, for the industrial workshops, and for the proceedings were challenged by the short notice of the cancellation; this is also the case for the on-line system for oral and poster presentations. The system has undergone many adaptations, it has been thoroughly checked, and it finally works correctly. It is the best system that could be established within the boundary conditions; but it does not have the full range of functionalities and the user-friendliness that could be wished for.

We thank you for your patience in awaiting this EuCAP 2020 on-line system and we hope that you will enjoy using it.

May 11, 2020: Industrial workshops

We are happy to report that 5 Industrial Workshops (IW), which were initially scheduled to be given online, were successfully conducted.

On average, there were over hundred participants in each workshop. It is doubtful, that such an impressive number could be achieved in a conventional conference format. We would like to thank all Industrial Workshop organizers for their efforts and the participants for interest and support.

We can announce that, as a bonus, an additional Industrial Workshop, IW11, is scheduled for 11 June under the title” Addressing engineering challenges in automotive radar and antenna system integration, combining test and simulation” (Siemens) with two available time slots. Registration details can be found here.

May 05, 2020: Refund process

Regarding financial aspects, we managed to conclude our negotiations with all vendors and suppliers for EuCAP 2020. On this basis, driven by our willingness to serve at best our A&P community while still accounting for the online conference extra costs, we can now partially refund you in the following way:

  • Delegate registration: 35 % to 40% (The highest possible amount will be distributed once all the financial details are known),
  • All social events including the conference dinner: 100%,
  • Short Courses not implemented on-line: 100%.

We hope that you appreciate the effort made by EurAAP to support you in this crisis situation and that you will be able to take the full benefits of the on-line conference. In practical terms, in order to get your partial refund, the only action on your side is to send an e-mail with your name and EuCAP registration number to registration@eucap2020.org before the 1st of July 2020 indicating your partial refund request and confirming that the refund can be made directly on the card you paid with. In other payment cases, please send us your complete bank details (Bank name and address, name of the account holder, address of the account holder, account number, IBAN and SWIFT/BIC) for the refund. In case your bank does not have IBAN, please also send all available routing instructions.

March 31, 2020: Archiving of EuCAP 2020 papers in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library - Update

The tentative dates in the email and the news of 20 March, 2020 for upload of presentations in a EuCAP on-line system were too optimistic.  We are still working to establish this system with the proper functionalities.  Once it is ready for upload, this will be clearly announced to all conference participants by email and as news here in the conference homepage.

March 20, 2020: Updated information

The following information has also been distributed by email to all registered conference participants.

This should have been the week of EuCAP 2020 and we were looking very much forward to welcoming you in Copenhagen.  Instead, it became the week where most societies came to an almost standstill.  In Denmark, like in many other countries, the borders are now closed, all arrangements with more than 10 people are prohibited, and most of the population is at home.  These are very challenging times but we try to recover as much as possible of EuCAP 2020, and following the previous general emails of 6 March and 12 March, we can now give the following information:

1. The ten TICRA-EurAAP grants covering costs for travel and registration (extended to EuCAP 2021) have been given as planned; please see the conference homepage.  We thank TICRA for the commitment to maintain these grants.

2. The EuCAP 2020 Best Paper Awards Presentation Sessions were conducted live on-line yesterday Thursday 19 March as planned in the EuCAP 2020 programme, and the Award winners were announced today Friday 20 March in the conference homepage.  Each of the 5 parallel sessions were attended by 70 to 260 unique viewers.  We thank the Best Paper Awards Chair, Marianna Ivashina, the Award Committees, and all nominees for participating to this event, and we congratulate the winners of these prestigious awards.

3. Four EuCAP 2020 Short Courses were conducted live on-line today Friday 20 March as planned in the EuCAP 2020 programme.  We thank the Short Course and Industrial Workshop Chair, Vitaliy Zhurbenko,  and the Short Course Organizers for their efforts in implementing the courses on-line.

4. The EurAAP Awards, the Felsen Award, the Kildal Award, and the ESoA Award have been given as planned; please see the conference homepage.  We thank the EurAAP Awards Chair, Marta Martinez, and the Award Committees, and we congratulate the recipients of these prestigious awards.

5. The authors who had cancelled, in the hectic weeks of February, their participation due to the Coronavirus situation have been re-invited. The TP Chairs are updating the technical programme accordingly and this will be finalized Wednesday 25 March (TBC).  The papers of this technical programme will then become available from a EuCAP/EurAAP server on Monday 30 March (TBC);  access information will follow.  The USB sticks, having the same contents as this server, will then be mailed to those conference participants who ordered it.

6. As announced in the conference homepage on Friday 13 March, the papers preliminary accepted for IEEE Xplore will be submitted for publication to IEEE Xplore on the condition that a presentation is uploaded to the EuCAP on-line system where it can be viewed on-demand by the conference participants.  We are still working to establish this on-line system which we plan to open for upload on Monday 30 March (TBC); access information and upload instructions will follow.  The upload period ends on Friday 3 April, and the papers with an uploaded presentation will then be submitted to IEEE Xplore.

7. The on-line presentations will be available for 4 weeks from Monday 6 April (TBC) to Sunday 3 May (TBC).   We continue working with other (possibly live) on-line elements of the EuCAP 2020 technical programme to make also these available for all conference participants during those same weeks.

8. We continue working with the financial aspects through negotiations with all vendors and suppliers for EuCAP 2020; specific information will follow once these aspects are settled.

Please continue sharing your questions and suggestions with us by sending a message to Covid19-EuCAP@cap-partner.eu. We are doing our best to answering; however, we ask for your patience and understanding; please be sure that we will account for your input when defining the way forward to best serve our community.

We will communicate all news in general email announcements and in the conference  home page.

March 13, 2020: Archiving of EuCAP 2020 papers in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library

The European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP) and the EuCAP 2020 Conference Organising Committee (COC) have now agreed with the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society the following condition for archiving EuCAP 2020 papers in the IEEE Xplore; this applies to those EuCAP 2020 papers that have been approved for IEEE Xplore in the review process, which are more than 85% of all accepted papers:

In order to be archived on IEEE Xplore, every already-accepted paper will have a presentation file (ppt or pdf) uploaded to a fileserver provided by the conference, and made available for online viewing by all registrants. The authors may preferably wish to add a voice-over to the presentation files.

The presentation requirement is central to IEEE and, in view of the cancellation of EuCAP 2020, EurAAP and EuCAP 2020 COC are happy for this arrangement that allows the many high-quality EUCAP 2020 papers to be archived in IEEE Xplore as planned and thus gain the visibility that they deserve.

The practical procedure, including the duration of the file availability on the server, will become available early week 12.

March 12, 2020: Information on COVID19

On Friday 06 March 2020, we announced the cancellation of EuCAP 2020 15-20 March in Copenhagen due to the Corona virus situation, which has become even worse in these past days. We thank you for the many kind emails expressing your sadness, as well as your understanding, for the cancellation; this is indeed a loss to our antennas and propagation community.

The European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP) and the EuCAP 2020 Conference Organising Committee (COC) is working to clarify the many challenges following the cancellation. This is an unusual situation with no precedent, and there are no obvious answers to all the financial, organizational, and practical questions. However, we can now give the following information:

  1. The cancellation is firm and the conference will not take place at a later point.  A postponement has been considered but too many unknown factors prevent this.
  2. All accepted papers with a valid author registration for EuCAP 2020 will become available from a EuCAP/EurAAP server as planned; access information will follow soon.
  3. Conference participants who have ordered a USB-stick will receive this by mail as soon as possible.
  4. EurAAP and the EuCAP 2020 COC are working towards the possible setup of a virtual conference with the aim that your contribution becomes more visible to the antennas and propagation community and properly acknowledged. Further information will follow soon.
  5. We are currently arranging with IEEE the conditions for the papers approved for the IEEE Xplore Digital Library to go to the IEEE Xplore. This issue is also considered in the setup of a virtual conference.
  6. Regarding registration fees, no further information can be provided at this point  beyond the registration page disclaimer in the conference homepage www.eucap2020.org.   The cancellation of EuCAP 2020 was based on concern for the participants’ health and in line with the Danish Health Authority. More information regarding financial aspects will be released once the situation is stable and all consequences have been duly analyzed.

As indicated earlier, you are welcome to share with us your thoughts by sending a message to Covid19-EuCAP@cap-partner.eu . We are doing our best to answering; however, we ask for your patience and understanding; please be sure that we will account for your input when defining the way forward to best serve our community.

We will communicate all news in general email announcements and in the home page www.eucap2020.org.

March 06, 2020: Cancellation of EuCAP 2020 - COVID19

This Friday 06 March 2020, the Danish government has introduced additional measures to counter the developing Covid-19 situation; among other measures, the government announced that meetings with more than 1000 participants should be cancelled or postponed.

The 14th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation - EuCAP 2020 -  can thus not take place as planned from 15-20 March 2020 in Copenhagen.

This is a tremendous disappointment for the A&P community in general, and for the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP) and the EuCAP 2020 Conference Organising Committee (COC) in particular.  We were looking very much forward to welcoming you to a grand EuCAP with more than 1500 participants, more than 1200 papers, more than 50 exhibitors, and more than 25 sponsors.  However, it is obvious that people’s health and safety must have first priority.

Since we are so close in time to the week where EuCAP 2020 would have taken place, all financial, organizational, and practical arrangements have been set up.  Hence, there will be a significant amount of work in the coming days to handle this new situation.

We are currently investigating several options to enable that your technical contribution to EuCAP 2020, and the huge work performed by the EuCAP 2020 TPC in elaborating an amazing program, is made visible in another way to the A&P community and properly acknowledged.

We understand that you may have questions at this point, and you are welcome to share with us your thoughts by sending a message to Covid19-EuCAP@cap-partner.eu.  We will do our best to answering; however, we ask for your patience and understanding; please be sure that we will account for your input when defining the way forward to best serve our community.

We will communicate all news in general email announcements and in the home page.

February 26, 2020: Information on COVID-19 (corona virus)

The EuCAP2020 Conference Organising Committee and EurAAP are closely monitoring the situation concerning COVID-19 through both the daily situation reports from the World Health Organization, the Danish Health Authority, and other national authorities. The Danish Health Authority currently assesses that there is only a moderate risk of COVID-19 infections in Denmark, and so far it has not introduced any restrictions concerning conferences in Denmark and travels to and from Denmark.  EuCAP 2020 follows the policy of the Danish Health Authority. Registered delegates from China, who are prevented from attending EuCAP2020 due to local restrictions, benefit from special measures as described in the e-mail announcement of 7 February 2020 to ensure that their technical-scientific contributions can still be presented.  These measures were introduced at a time when the COVID-19 situation was largely confined to China. For registered delegates from all other countries, the cancellation policy remains as stated in the EuCAP 2020 registration homepage. Since most major costs for EuCAP 2020 have been paid at this point, further refunds are not possible; we suggest that you make use of your travel insurance. The EuCAP2020 Conference Organising Committee and EurAAP are taking all the necessary measures to make EuCAP 2020 a big success despite the uncertainties induced by the COVID-19 situation.  We hope that the situation improves and we look forward to welcoming you in Copenhagen.
